Angelite (AKA Celestite or Blue Anhydrite) is found in a Lilac blue crysteline structure and is so called because of it's "angelic" colour. It is one of the reletively newer crystals in terms of discovery having only been found in 1987 in Peru (though it is now found in many other places including Germany, Libya, Egypt and Britain) and it's name is deriverd from the Greek phrase 'an hydros' meaning 'without water' and it is a sedimentary mineral that forms massive rock layers. it does not form directly but is the result of the de-watering of the rock forming mineral gypsum. It will convert back to Gypsum if left in water and so you should never soak it in water to clean or wear it whilst swimming etc, it is also very susseptible to harsh chemicals and mechanical cleaners (i.e. spinning brushes) so you should just clean it gently with a damp cloth or brush dust off gently with a soft make-up or paint brush. Due to its tendancy to be easily damaged it is also advisable to store it individually in a box or pouch to protect it from damage from other crystals or jewels.
From a healing point of view, Angelite promotes inner calm and peace and helps to rid one of negative emotions such as fear and anger, reduces stress and encourages forgiveness. In addition it is benificial in promoting self-expresion thus adding communication and as such is very usefull in meditation and work with telepathic communication and in contacting Angels. It is also a good crystal to use for unblocking energy pathways and treating throat inflamations, thyroid problems, headaches and weight issues in addition to alleviating stomach ulcers and sunburn. In elixier form it is usefull for sore throats, tonsilitis etc. and has been benificial in easing symptoms of heart desease.
It is believed to be usefull in Feng Shui for Knowledge and wisdom and for balance and harmony if placed in the Northeast area and the Centre area of the home.
Angelite can be polished and shaped so is often used for items like Angel figurines, spheres and pyramids etc, and it is also often sold in geode forme similar to amythest beds.
